Journey Taekwondo

"ON A PATH TO PURPOSE"

How it Got Started

Mrs. Samantha Lecher began her martial arts journey when she was just 5 years old.  At the age of 12 she earned her black belt and continued to pursue her training to championship levels and has been recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation as a Master Instructor.  She currently holds the rank of 4th degree black belt and is excited to share this passion of hers with students!

Why  journey Taekwondo

Taekwondo is more than just kicks and punches—it builds confidence, discipline, focus, and respect. Students gain physical strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, while also developing important life skills like perseverance and self-control. Whether you're looking to improve fitness, learn self-defense, or grow in character, Taekwondo offers something for everyone.

Faith-Based Foundation
Our program is built on Christian values, integrating faith with training.  All classes will have a spiritual emphasis where we will lean into God’s Word as it parallels our aims as a Journey Taekwondo practitioner.  We emphasize integrity, humility, and servant leadership, encouraging students to grow not only as martial artists but also in their walk with Christ. Biblical principles are woven into our teaching to support strong moral character and a Christ-centered mindset. In each and every class, students are guided to see that they have an identity in Christ where they can find confidence and peace in knowing that they are not on this JOURNEY alone.

Class Commitment
For steady progress and skill development, we recommend attending at least two classes per week. Consistent training helps students retain techniques, build muscle memory, and stay motivated on their journey toward black belt and beyond.

Mission

Develop purposeful and confident leaders for Christ and to guide students to see that they have an identity in Christ where they can find hope and peace in knowing that they are not on this JOURNEY alone.

Vision

Spread the word of God using taekwondo as a tool as described in Galatians 5:22 “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Purpose

Build relationships with families and students that will grow and develop over the course of their training and leave a lasting impact.

Class DEscriptions

All Ages/All Belt Level Class
This dynamic, multi-level class gives students the opportunity to learn from one another while developing leadership skills as they move into higher ranks. Participants will actively engage in taekwondo fundamentals, technique-building drills, and more, all designed to support growth as a martial artist.
Because this class is not rank-specific, there will be no stripe testing. The class will primarily be led by Black Belt Junior Instructors under staff supervision. There is no such thing as a “black belt technique,” just solid fundamentals practiced with confidence and excellence. In this mixed-level environment, students will grow together by setting goals, sharpening skills, and lifting each other up.
Kinder-2nd Graders and/or Beginner Belts
This class is designed for younger students and beginner belts, typically white, yellow, gold, and orange. Students will build a strong foundation in taekwondo by focusing on basic movements, spatial awareness, distance, control, and agility. Through drills, games, and structured practice, they will develop the skills needed to understand and apply their belt-level techniques. This specialized class emphasizes individual belt requirements, including forms, sparring techniques, and one-step combinations, providing a supportive environment where students can grow in confidence, discipline, and coordination.
3rd-5th Graders and/or Intermediate Belts
This class is designed for developing martial artists ready to deepen their training and build greater consistency and proficiency in their skills. Aimed at intermediate students, typically green, purple, and blue belts—this class focuses on refining technique, improving control, and mastering movement with intention. Students will work on belt-specific requirements with increased intensity and attention to detail, including forms, sparring techniques, and advanced combinations. This is a key stage where students begin to bridge the gap between foundational skills and advanced application, setting the tone for higher-level performance and leadership.
6th Graders through Adults and/or Advanced Belts
This class is open to students from 6th grade through adults—yes, even you can sign up! Whether you're brand new or an advanced belt (typically blue and above), this class offers the opportunity to grow through high-energy, focused training. Beginners will build a strong foundation, while experienced students will be pushed to refine technique, increase agility, and train with greater intensity. Everyone will be challenged at their level as we work together toward excellence.
**All adult participants must submit required information and provide permission for a background check.
Leadership and Advanced Belts
Black Belts and Future Black Belts, this class is for you!
The training is specifically designed for advanced students, brown belt and higher. Blue belts who are motivated and ready for the challenge may request special permission to attend.
Each session will begin with focused leadership training to help you grow not only as a martial artist but also as a role model in and out of class. From there, we’ll dive into advanced-level Taekwondo training including high-intensity workouts, detailed technical drills, performance-based forms, and more.  This class is meant to challenge you, inspire you, and give you a competitive edge as you prepare for your future goals. It will help you build a solid foundation and push your overall development as a taekwondo practitioner to the next level.
