As we embark on a new year, I want to challenge us all for 2024 to be the Year of Awakening. During a season of prayer, the word awakening just seemed to come alive in my heart and mind.

When used as an adjective it means “rousing or quickening.” When used as a noun it means “the act of waking from sleep or renewal of interest or attention.” One definition that stood out to me is “a recognition, realization, or coming into awareness  of something.”

The possibilities of applying awakening to our lives are endless. Here are a few to consider.
Awakening to new life in Jesus
Awakening to intimacy with Jesus
Awakening to connection with others
Awakening to opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus
Awakening to see the world as Jesus would

I believe that if we will earnestly seek to know, love and serve Jesus in greater ways the Holy Spirit will bring awakening into our lives.

An important way to prepare ourselves for an AWAKENING is to prioritize the next 3 weeks and participate in 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, January 8-28.

Please use the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting guide that is provided for daily readings and prayer focus, as well as types of fasts to be considered.

Living Expectantly,
Pastor Hugh
